The West Yorkshire Savoyards are a Gilbert and Sullivan society based in Halifax but with members from a wide area of West, North and South Yorkshire, Lancashire and Greater Manchester. Unlike most other amateur operatic societies, who perform at their local theatres, the Savoyards are a touring company who take their annual production on the road, performing at various different venues around Yorkshire and Lancashire each year. In this way, they try to take the Gilbert and Sullivan operas to areas where people would not otherwise have easy access to them.

The society was formed twenty-eight years ago and the quality and enthusiasm of its performances has gained it a wide reputation. It has done several overseas tours and competed successfully in the Waterford Festival of Light Opera on a number of occasions.
